Italy's Prysmian Cables & System confirmed that its newly developed flexible pipe have been manufactured in full compliance with the required design and project specifications and testing is currently underway.
The company described this as 'a significant step forward' in its effort to offer a comprehensive range of SURF products for offshore industry
Last year Prysmian signed a four-year frame agreement with PETROBRAS for the design and supply of a range of dynamic risers and static flowlines up to 6in diameter for deepwater deployment. The company plans to begin full production of flexpipe in 2010 when a dedicated $100 million production facility is due for completion in Vila Velha, Brazil.
